Moonbeam

I felt your touch
As light upon
My shifting seas
Beloved came
A messenger
Within the heart of me
Moonbeams’ dance
Reminds me of
A kind of grace
Beloved comes
At twilight turn
To see His face

Choice

This is you
Creature of extremes
And latitudes
Confusion in flesh
Chimera of your making
I’ve had my fill of you
You do not know

You do not know
Your fractured moving soul
No constancy
A slap, a hug and then
Something else for me
I’ve had enough of you
You do not care

You do not care
Even when you turn to hate
Your lassitude
Depletes the passion’s flair
I wait upon your whip
It isn’t even there
You can’t know me true
For this is you

Water Dragon

I slither in depths
Water fed
Consuming my tail
Shedding my crusted
River formed skin

I am older than you
Water child
I hold you in my embrace
Shelter as you grow
River formed skin

Do not forsake me
Water heart
Treading your earth
Forgetting your home’s
River formed skin

I’ll hold you once more
Water soul
I birthed you within
The water’s cold depths
River formed skin

Fly Away

Fly away from this carnival of fools
The glitter has now withered
As ghost dust on the floor
Pierrot is broken-hearted
Columbine will come no more
So fly away

Fly away from this false and gaudy fair
In the dirt a promise broken
Reminds what you came here for
A momentary exhilaration
Is but a trick and nothing more
So fly away

Fly away to something shining in the sky
All this cheap skate misdirection
Is what you now must most abhor
Life’s not a carnival excursion
But a battle tooth and claw
So fly away

After the Rain

We will begin anew
after the rain
Nothing we here forgive
nor explain
Another day rises with
its new refrain

Sheltered we wait until
the fallen showers
temper their tempest to
the quiet hours
Remind us of gentleness
within such powers

After the rain we will
something know
Even in darkness is
a light bestowed
For after the rain is when
the flowers grow

Moving time!

Hi

Just popping in briefly to say I’m moving home on Monday, and it’s an inter-state move so it is lengthy, complicated, drawn out over a number of days, stressful, etc etc, so I may not be around much at all until at least a week from now (and that’s if it all goes smoothly…fingers crossed!!)

I still have poems scheduled to post every three days so it may seem like I’m here, but if I seem like a ghost otherwise, the move is why. Right now I am surrounded by boxes, and my only waking thoughts seem to be ‘what is left to pack, what box will that fit in, how do I mark the boxes properly so the removalists don’t confuse them’ and so forth…

Hardly the fuel of creative fire and also not the head space to properly read and appreciate the wonderful work of all my fellow bloggers! Apologies!!! I’m hanging out now for the Christmas break when I should have more time to catch up with everyone’s work!

The good news I have, though, is I’ve already secured a new job to go to, which is much quicker than expected, so my guardian angels are obviously working overtime for me at the moment!

Catch up soon!

Cheers

Outside

I am my own jailor
You don’t hold the key
I am colder within
Than the outside of me

I gaze from my cell block
To winter strewn day
I laugh at your feeble
Attempts to dismay

Inside I am frozen
Such deathless, deep dark
That the ice lit by sunlight
Resembles a spark

But deep in my bones
In my corroded old heart
All point is just pointless
All mystery departs

And I have a secret
I may someday share
And with this bleak knowledge
Some others ensnare

But for now I’m my jailor
You think you are free
While I’m seeing the darkness
You refuse most to see

I know I am nothing
Just captured in space
But you’ll see what I see
When in death’s cool embrace

From nothing we come
And to nothing we go
I am my own jailor
But this much I know

When they lay you beneath
The stars’ sleepy glow
You’ll be your own jailor
And finally you’ll know

Beautiful

It is so beautiful
Colours streaming through
My eyes are drawn
To all the rainbows strewn
Across the sky
And along pavements run
By children laughing
In their search of fun
It is so beautiful
A butterfly is born
In this sweet moment
On this perfect morn

From chrysalis derive
The colours of the world
It is the majesty
Of heaven’s love unfurled
It is so beautiful
My heart has come undone
The weeping moon
Has given way to sun
I’m but a child
Before the hues arrayed
It is just love
In beauty here displayed

Saw It Coming

I saw it coming
But you refused to see
You shut your eyes
And turned away from me
The mirrored image
Showed the tumults sway
You wouldn’t notice
You just looked away

I saw it coming
Saw it take you down
You found no comfort
No protected ground
You turned and saw me
Had a questioning glance
You thought yourself victim
To mere happenstance

I saw it coming
I tried to warn you true
Hoped you would notice
And would travel through
The waves here breaking
Breaking overhead
But you ignored me
Turned away instead

I saw it coming
And why didn’t you?
Is fear so strong
It is the heart of you?
Denial’s child
Is the last to cry
But cry you will
And just before you die

I saw it coming…

Ice

Ice is coming
My friend
So many years have passed
And all our dreams outlast
Its creeping pace
But something is rising
In their place
It’s only ice

Ice is coming
My love
Its slithering through our veins
And our warmth is not contained
It slips away
With the breaking of the sun
Another day
It’s only ice

Ice becomes you
My soul
Glance exchanged at daybreak
Hides the loss of pure heartache
It wasn’t there
That belief that you
Might care
You’re only ice
