Quiet Moments

Still holding hands

Still holding hands (Photo credit: TempusVolat)

These quiet moments by your side
Above all doubt, above all pride
Heads here bent, and arms entwined
Drinking all from the divine

These soft words spoken end of day
that wash all fear and pain away
A touch of silk or softest hand
as fellow travellers we stand

Such words of love are quite obscure
We can’t articulate the pure
well of emotion, it is here
Like memories found this time of year

My soul begins and ends with you
There is no wish or task to do
No risk to lose or misconstrue
The flame of passion burns us through

To be one of the elect
These secrets we protect
Our vows are circumspect
Politically correct

To be one of the elite
We walk this narrow street
Our mission to complete
As ever, we’re discrete

To be one of the anointed
Eternally appointed
Our values lost, disjointed
But never disappointed

To be one of the elect
All critiques we deflect
All others we suspect
Are souls that we collect
Just souls that we collect

clouds of glowing hydrogen where stars are being born (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Stardust song
Ethereal strands
Angel hair

Galaxy
Yearning now to be
Breathes a star

Entropy
Extinguish old light
For new birth

Mother’s womb
We are all born now
Of the stars

Clones

I am you and you are me
Cloned with her in harmony
Next step in humanity
One and one and one makes three

You are me and I am you
DNA competing through
Dictates all we feel and do
One is gone and that leaves two

She was us and we were she
Forsaking all our dignity
Two must go for one to be
One is all that’s left of three

This was my cruel remedy
Fashioned from necessity
I care not if you will agree
There must be one
That one is me

In Plain Sight

Justice (Dike, on the left) and Divine Vengean...

Justice (Dike, on the left) and Divine Vengeance (Nemesis, right) are pursuing the criminal murderer. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I will announce my crimes
I’ll do this many times
And so you can’t say true
These things you never knew
To be of the elect
These actions I select
I’ll bypass infamy
And still the truth you’ll see
Not hidden in dark night
But best here in plain sight
So gods above, below
Will of my secrets know
But these they’ll never tell
Because I guard them well
I follow all the laws
An adept to my cause
I will announce my crimes
I’ll do this many times

Akin

Darkness falls

Darkness falls (Photo credit: Bogdan Suditu)

You are akin to night
A starless sky
A raven in full flight
Utter absences of light

You’re of the deep
A well of longing
A restless, fitful sleep
Dark promises to keep

You’re groom to death
Funeral procession
Secrets on your breath
Spoken to the deaf

Your home is lost
Six winters deep
Only you may count the cost
Of the enmity you host

You are akin to night
Smallest crest of moon
Cannot support the light
Your darkness shines too bright

Dare

Dare to Dream

Dare to Dream (Photo credit: Karthick R)

Dare I wish?
These old forsaken hands
Can they clasp
To questions asked
Or works demand?

Dare I try?
To ignore the path of old
Be the scribe
To muted memory
And stories yet untold?

Dare I reach?
For brief moments of acclaim
Own these words
As more than musing
But a way to show my name?

Dare I dream?
There is meaning in my years
Not just each day
Drawing unto the next
In the veil of obscure tears?

Before

I lost you before I knew you
It is our fault combined,
both yours and mine

Our family beliefs
became our history
rendering only mystery

I understood your pain
as a later, thing apart
I did not know your heart

You said your one regret
was not to know me true
I feel the same of you

I hope you found some peace
I hope they gave it there
in heaven’s gentle care

And that perhaps one day
we’ll meet again and know
the depth, the undertow

The saddest thing I feel
much more than share a name
I feel we were the same

So far from fear or blame
I feel we were the same

Weep

Belonged to Lord Northwick (1859/08/10); then to duke of Aumale (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Do angels weep
Before such loss
Or watch with indifferent eyes
Singing such dirges to the skies
As praises to the God on high
Upon whose face they gaze?

Do angels feel
The pain of man
Or contemplate one step removed
On justice and of fate approved
Of God’s good graces here pursued
In fury as they blaze?

Do angels know
The span of time
Across which canvas might be seen
A balance for the cruel, obscene
Tide of fate as in between
We’re lost within the maze?
