You are akin to night
A starless sky
A raven in full flight
Utter absences of light
You’re of the deep
A well of longing
A restless, fitful sleep
Dark promises to keep
You’re groom to death
Funeral procession
Secrets on your breath
Spoken to the deaf
Your home is lost
Six winters deep
Only you may count the cost
Of the enmity you host
You are akin to night
Smallest crest of moon
Cannot support the light
Your darkness shines too bright

BEAUTIFUL~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
“Your darkness shines too bright.” Incredible words, Sis! I have met some that are so dark out of the eyes of the public, but try and shine like stars to their adoring fans…..It reminds me of that so much. Another incredible piece that touches me.
Thanks so much dear Sid!! 🙂 🙂
That should say dear Sis, not dear Sid, LOL!!
Gorgeous!
Thanks!! 🙂 🙂
great poem but umm in the first stanza did you mean to repeat ‘light’ or was one supposed to be night? or flight?
‘A raven in full flight
Utter absences of light’ ??
hope you don’t mind me asking 🙂
Great pick up! Yes, what you wrote was what I meant – typo missed the f in flight…going back to fix now, thanks!!! 🙂
you’re welcome 🙂 felt so awkward in case i was wrong
no, you were absolutely right, really appreciated it because i’m the world’s worst proof reader – I read what I expect to see, which this was a very good example of! thanks again!! 🙂
you are very welcome, i think it can be very hard to read through something you have written 🙂
I agree, I really, really never saw that in the poem, I read ‘flight’ every time I saw it…perception is so odd, LOL..but thanks again, I’m far happier now knowing it is right!! 🙂
anytime 😛 🙂
