Darkness falls

Darkness falls (Photo credit: Bogdan Suditu)

You are akin to night
A starless sky
A raven in full flight
Utter absences of light

You’re of the deep
A well of longing
A restless, fitful sleep
Dark promises to keep

You’re groom to death
Funeral procession
Secrets on your breath
Spoken to the deaf

Your home is lost
Six winters deep
Only you may count the cost
Of the enmity you host

You are akin to night
Smallest crest of moon
Cannot support the light
Your darkness shines too bright

  1. BEAUTIFUL~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. “Your darkness shines too bright.” Incredible words, Sis! I have met some that are so dark out of the eyes of the public, but try and shine like stars to their adoring fans…..It reminds me of that so much. Another incredible piece that touches me.

great poem but umm in the first stanza did you mean to repeat ‘light’ or was one supposed to be night? or flight?

    ‘A raven in full flight
    Utter absences of light’ ??
hope you don’t mind me asking 🙂
