Six: Envy

My eyes oh so green
glitter outwards
surveying all
just beyond my grasp
Yet others have what I would have
It cuts so deep within
as I wait
without

Dare I question
the decisions of the world?
Do others see
more clearly than I?
Must I sit on the sidelines
never called to the game?
What do others have
that I do not?
To me we seem the same

So am I here to blame
for envious thoughts
and dreams of deeds
that overpower the world entire?
Within my soul this fire
drawing to me now
what is long denied
And even if
the heavens cried
I’d want it now
I’d want it now
And more besides

Five: Wrath

This darkness arises
From my rage
Distilled as this form
Black winged
Red eyed
Slavoring beast
You are me
In unearthly form
I know this is true

So how must I welcome
This terrible host?
Divine or diabolic
Through this mirror dark
I see it rise
As though I could slake
My thirst for revenge
On the tips
Of its respondent wings

Is this my face
When a human artifice
Is shed from my skin
And my trembling white bones?
Or is this just me
In extremis
As wrath
Devolving to one singular
Aspect of being
That I might know myself
For but one moment
Before the Fall?

“Color Me In Cyanide & Cherries” – The Book

A new book from a wonderful poet now available!! 🙂

Oloriel's avatarColor me in Cyanide and Cherry

lulu-02“Colour Me In Cyanide & Cherries” is my first book of poetry and it is finally ready to roam the world.

I am heavily pondering about what to write about it, accustomed to most of my readers already knowing what poems are in here, when and why were they written and so forth, so I am having trouble finding the way that could perfectly describe what the poems are about to a traveler, a roamer, a stranger.

Most of the poems from this blog are included in the book, some I skipped, some I added. The book is,for now, only available as a print book. I feel incredibly bad charging for anything(even more so when the available platforms mandate a hefty price in order for the writer to earn anything at all), especially for an e-book, since, like I mentioned, reading through this poetic haven of mine is like reading this book…

I cannot study anymore
I know the games
I know the score
I feel that I
Must sleep instead
To drink the potions
Of the dead

The pomegranate seeds are nice
A perfect flavour
For our device
Down within
The beast I dwell
I’ll sleep my sleep
And wake in hell

My energy has bleeded out
I care not what
This world’s about
Let knowledge flee
It has no balm
I’ll rest instead
In sleep’s warm arms

Three: Greed

If I take it all
It is not enough
If I leave the scraps
I will feel short changed
All the dollars glide
Up into my eyes
To leave even one
Is to be deranged

I no longer sleep
Ravaged by the need
Someone gets ahead
If I stop to dream
Till this race is won
Till I am the one
I will play the game
Nothing as it seems

I will draw it in
Underneath my skin
Let it all begin
Only what I’ve been
Only what I’ve been

Two: Gluttony

I will not choose
I will consume it all
Dark or light
Dull or bright
I’ll take it all

I need the taste
The wicked true delight
There’s none for you
It’s not for two
This shines too bright

It is too much
But I want all the sweet
Such a taste
Won’t go to waste
It’s just my special treat

I will not choose
I will consume it all
Dark or light
Dull or bright
I’ll take it all

Strawberry delight
I consume you
All electric
Unbidden and unconquerable
Let me surrender
To waves of pure energy
You move inside of me
Above and over me
And I’m consuming you
As you’re consuming me
All over beauty
In the night

Precious

Precious and delicate
Newly born
Sensate and aware
Language still
A distant prayer
Who are you there?

You need shelter
An understanding host
A kindness that
Is blind to all
That’s alien
In your sweet form
And how you’re born

Difference
Is just a cloak
A disguise that hides
Essential similarity
Beneath this skin
A living thing
Like us to see

Precious and delicate
Every breath you draw
Is a miracle
Upon these shores
So far from home
A creature new
Too new for this
Cruel world to see

Mystery Road

I followed you down this mystery road
Early morning the grey of the light
was the sun battling moon
And the frost and fog of wonder
settled on my resolute form
as I followed in your steps

The preternatural ambience
was a cloak upon my shoulders
I was a weary traveller although
my journey had just now commenced
I followed you although I did not know
a reason why, except I said
I said I would, like promises made
too late in the night to every make sense

And who were you on this mystery road
dark traveller just out of my sight?
I followed in your footsteps bright
to a morning I could never see
with eyes accustomed to my world
this other place and your other face
floating back to gaze at me

I shall never return, the way I’ve gone
is burnt out behind me and disappears
within this mist that swallows all my fears
and makes me brave through innocence
I know my words make little sense
but still I follow, never free
from this strange place and your strange face
floating back to gaze at me

Stage Mirror

Pierrot has gone
And Columbine
Before her mirror
Deftly draws
The makeup and
Such mystery
That deep within
Her heart she stores

Her love is gone
Her love is lost
She cannot bear
Or view the cost

Pierrot has gone
The mirror lies
Pretends she waits
Upon him here
As though just now
In artifice
She can prepare
To draw him near

Her love is gone
Her love is lost
She cannot bear
To view the cost

The mirror’s kind
Her beauty shows
And tells her not
Of all it knows
