The Fourth Kind

Blue Aliens

Blue Aliens (Photo credit: Redgum)

Searing light
Blinds the senses now
They approach

Can’t recall
What paths we followed
Into dark

Explore you
Little rat upon
Lab table

Is this real
Or just fear’s dread dance
In a dream?

Paradox

Kept Heart

Kept Heart (Photo credit: haunted by Leonard Cohen)

The human heart
Is a paradox
Savage selfishness
In a gold-edged box

It wants what it wants
And believes what should be
Is its singular desire
To merge to a ‘we’

Each love dream unique
To each solitary heart
Chosen method of merging
A thing quite apart

Our love story is ours
No other author can be
But must live through another
Paradoxically

The Listener

pinned butterflies

Attentive
And quiet
Collecting thoughts
Like butterflies
Pinned to a secret wall
In a room
No-one sees

Almost invisible
The barely perceptible
Nodding head
Hands touching lightly
Momentarily
Gestures of support
Urging the speech
Drinking it in

Cataloguing the species
Of which he feels
Barely a part
Itemizing words
Concepts, beliefs and conceits
Secured in sequences
And patterns
For later retrieval
In considered privacy

Those that talk
Do not register
Beyond their
Unconscious belief
That all is right with this
He should listen
They deserve
To be heard

Few will remember
Secrets betrayed
In these moments
And their very human need
To fill silence
With voice

Later if they hear
Of confidence broken
Or find themselves undone
They will not even recall
Who they spoke to or when
And in their distress
May well return
To his safe harbour
To sing their song of sorrow
To The Listener
Again

Fear – Nothing Now But You

Nightmare

Nightmare (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

All my nightmares now are you
There is no other person, thing, or creature
That can so chill my blood
Rend the very beat from my heart
Make me sick, to my soul
At the very thought
Of crossing your path

You have left me with this malaise
This may well have been
Your intent; you were the master
Of manipulation, drove you like an art form
From your cloying, dark little soul
You are a terrible vengeance, as yet untaken
And never, ever deserved
I was your victim, after all, not the other way round
Though you may not see it as such
Even now

I should have known when our eyes met
You could be
My nemesis
Or at least, forevermore
My nightmares

All my nightmares now are you….

This is my contribution to mindlovemisery’s prompt – fear – on her blog http://mindlovemisery.wordpress.com

Check out her writing, it’s incredible. 🙂

UNFOLDING SHADOWS (A Duet)

I so enjoyed writing this poem in collaboration with the wonderful Aka Teraka. His writing is so beautiful and spiritually uplifting it was a true joy to work with him. I hope you enjoy the result. 🙂

My Absolute Fragile Essence on Kindle

Estella is a sublime poet. She writes with a totally unique style and a razor sharp view of the world, laced with humor and warmth. I’ve ordered this book via Amazon in its printed form and am eagerly waiting its delivery, and now you can also get it on Kindle! I agree with Charles that the news of this work should be spread so that many, many more can enjoy the wonderful poetry of Estella!

Charles Yallowitz's avatarLegends of Windemere

On April 15th, I made a post about Estella Aguilar (formerly rawencounterswithestella) putting out a paperback collection of her poetry.  Well, she just released it as a .99 cent eBook on Amazon Kindle.  Please give her poems a read and review and spread the word to help a fellow self-published author.  Click on the cover picture to go the Amazon page:

Alchemy

Alchemy (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I am left
Free-floating up in the air
I am left
Wondering if I should care
I am left
Here, when I should have been there
I am left
Floating here, up in the air

I have fallen
Deep to the darkest of seas
I have fallen
As a sinner might fall to her knees
I have fallen
So short of my promise to please
I have fallen
Down to the depth of the seas

I burn
Deeply I turn in the fire
I burn
Cruelty’s child to inspire
I burn
Faceless, I writhe on the pyre
I burn
Soul wrenching death in the fire

I lie still
Deep in the arms of the earth
I lie still
Waiting the time for re-birth
I lie still
Trading my tears for cold mirth
I lie still
Cradled within mother earth

Suspicion

How can one know
when wariness
is required?

The paranoid
dances a fool’s parade,
boxing shadows

But over-confidence
precedes a fall
more frequently than pride

So how does one decide?

Deceit’s patterns arise
wearing the mask
of a friend

But sometimes shadows
loom too large
to reflect the truth

And fears of harm
may lead us where
we should not go

So how are we to know?

When words and deeds
mis-align
suspicion blooms

But patterns seen
may prove to be
chimeras all

A smile or word
of kindness gives
a small reprieve

So what should we believe?

Excision

Supplicants

Supplicants (Photo credit: quinn.anya)

I have
Scraped my knees
Red raw
From kneeling
Hands now ache
From supplication

Over my head
Dawn is breaking
See I’ve bled

I am
Cold to my bones
Bitter chills
Of waiting
Heartsick
And rendered

Stilted beat
What god approaches
Me to meet?

I feel
Ancient longing
Indescribable
Wordless need
Anticipating
Sweet surrender

Oracular vision
Through my soul
Complete excision

Haiku Couplets

Meditate
on life; the rosebud
can now bloom

Tapestry
music; dancers weave
in the room

Moment of
beauty; child’s laughter
of delight

Mythic love
fragrant; moon and stars
kiss goodnight
