Supplicants (Photo credit: quinn.anya)

I have
Scraped my knees
Red raw
From kneeling
Hands now ache
From supplication

Over my head
Dawn is breaking
See I’ve bled

I am
Cold to my bones
Bitter chills
Of waiting
And rendered

Stilted beat
What god approaches
Me to meet?

I feel
Ancient longing
Wordless need
Sweet surrender

Oracular vision
Through my soul
Complete excision

You’re going to have to be my english teacher on this one helenvalentina. Is this about needing to experience God so they pray and then they experience God and feel relief or is it about them dying and waiting to meet God as they enter heaven and the relief they feel upon doing so? It is a really beautiful spiritual poem. I think that your wording here is stronger than a lot your other poems (your wording is always great I am just noting that their is improvement like your talent and skill are growing). I love the flow. I love the strength. Great poem.

    • Thank you so much. This was interesting because it was really more expressing a feeling than placing a story in any context…it’s about spiritual yearning with both a light and dark sensibility to it…a bit mystical, a bit occult…it’s kind of that feeling that to merge with the One, as mystics do, is also a form of individual annihilation…but as I said, more a feeling than a story. πŸ™‚

  8. I loved this, Helen. So intense feeling…I could feel angst in the praying soul. Big hugs and thanks!

    • Thank you – yes, the main feeling was angst, and also partly a sense of not knowing what is yearned for, what is called forth, a kind of teetering on the precipice of light and dark. πŸ™‚

You’re a Witch, my goodness. A perfect mix of Erotic, Exotic and Demonic. I’m touched in every way. Beautiful.
