Anger spills over
my senses; red like the bull
in mid fight or flight
My face is a sword
poised; ancient samurai now
ready for battle
In my brisk footsteps
dire warning; lowered eyes
letting the storm pass
I should not be so
indiscriminate; flowers
should not fear the storm

Thanks so much!! π π
Hahaha, this perfectly describes me at work right now!
LOL, it was decribing me at work about a week ago…must be something about work!! π
wish this post came with a picture of you at work about a week ago :p
LOL, it wouldn’t have been a pretty picture. I shoud hasten to add I didnt take my anger out on anyone but I think my body language kind of put out an ‘approach at your own risk’ type of vibe! π
niiice π I think that’s why I wanted the picture. Want to see how a poet looks like in her “approach at your own risk” mood. π
The first two verses reminded me of my ex boss. Yikes!! This was wonderful!!!!
Oh dear…as I said above I didn’t take my anger out on anyone, and none of it was remotely directed at any of my team. π

Top of the evening and tip of the hat to you — I nominated you for an award. You can go to http://jrosenberry1.wordpress.com/2013/03/25/i-feel-pretty/ and pick one of the two awards. One is brand new!
All the best

Thank you so much – will check it out in more detail on the weekend when I have a bit more time. Apppreciated as always!! π
I really like this poem. My only criticism is that I feel it needs another stanza to more powerfully show the transition from being ready to fight to letting it go. The last line “flowers should not be afraid of the storm” to me is very beautiful and full of meaning. The first two stanzas have great imagery. I like that each stanza is three lines.
Thank you – that’s an interesting perspective…yes, perhaps the transition was too quick. The last stanza was kind of my reflection about holding in the anger so none of my team were afraid of me, LOL, as none of it as directed at them. π
anger can be one powerful force, anger if harnessed can be positive, if not well you know what happens….
Very true!! π
i should know…life is a learning…a guy called Krishnamurti said LIFE’ is always a learning. I like that…his last words were…’It ends’….nice
Yes, agree with him on both counts! π
he was a cool dude. he once said, ‘truth is a pathless land’, i’ve been thinking on that statement for years. I stayed at his place in India, too bad he was dead haha!
Awesome to see someone expanding haiku form into a longer poem. I love using the structure of each stanza/form and writing a longer poem. For me, the strongest image was the end, flowers should not be afraid of the storm. It says everything the poem was saying and is an unforgettable image and message. Very nicely done!
Thank you so much! π
As always the Word Smith…perfect portrayal of anger. May I please repost this on my new blog?
Thank you! I’d be delighted if you did, thanks for thinking of me! π
Thank you! If you have any favorites please let me know so that I can re-blog them here. Your poetry has really been a blessing during this time of recovery for me.
Oh how very kind of you – I’m glad the poems have been helpful, and I’m really happy for you to reblog any you like. It’s hard for me to judge which of my poems is best because I’m too close to them, so if you choose I then know they are ones that have some resonance. π
I understand what you mean when you say “I’m too close to them”. I look forward to picking out some wonderful ones to share with people on here. Thank you π
Thank you! As i said, this is so kind of you, and I really appreciate it. π
