Glory

This golden dawn
Arising in precious metal
The woman rides the dragon’s back
Resplendent
Oh, what a morning!
The world holds its breath
To see her in her glory
Ascend

In a ballgown
Made of fallen starlight
Weaved with with sun
She is everything
Kingdoms rise and fall
She endures beyond the veil
Awaiting this perfect moment
To be born

Path

Early morning fog
Clear the path for journeying
Beyond the mist

All roads will lead
To where the glory yet dawns
At the break of day

Clothed in grace of time
I’m warm against this winter
I will yet endure

Calling

The first level is the Raven
Initiate kneels and bows
Prostrate upon the floor
Awaiting touch and enlightenment
Following the calling
To this room
This day
This appointed hour

Dweller on the threshold
Between life and death
Facing the abyss
Where madness and loss define
The way you yet may fall
Facing it all
This day
This appointed hour

Returning on dark wings
Flying on knowledge
Travelling on nothing
But information borne
Of how the calling beckons
To this room
This day
This appointed hour

Wash Us Clean

This glorious moment
Wash us clean
Pure rainfall is your gift
Undeserved but craved
Even in our closed and doubting minds

In youth the man
Cared not for matters of the soul
The world beckoned
As a thing of substance and life
Nothing shadowed came calling
Individual he stood
Knowing himself little
And little caring

This perfect moment
Wash us clean
Let the water expunge
Every selfish thought
Even in our closed and doubting hearts

In age he learned
Something slept within awaiting the day
It could awake and open
His blinded, tired eyes
And then the city glories seemed
But dull to a palate
Yearning to be refined
To be whole

This blessed moment
Wash us clean
Let the torrent
Of the waking soul arise
Even in our closed and doubting soul

Angel

Angel here attend me
I am dying
Though my wounds and scars invisible
Are not counted in the fallen
Just a slow inexorable procession
To a dusty end

Angel please release me
I am broken
Though the world around believes me
To be full of life and joy
Within the pain is unalloyed
Till dusty end

Angel yet forgive me
Unrepentant yet
Still desperate for my Father’s face
And what may be yet given
Of understanding grace
At dusty end

Angel here attend me
Your sworn allegiance
Is to such misshapen as me and mine
Do not discriminate
Or judge my weakness harsh
At my dusty end

my-grl-front

I’m delighted to spread the word of the re-launch of John Howell’s My GRL – a brilliant, fast paced and totally enjoyable first instalment of a wonderful thriller trilogy.

The cover is new and the book edited once again to enhance the experience. What is really nice is the price has been cut for the introduction. You can buy the kindle version for a special introduction price of
$0.99

Here’s the blurb.

John J. Cannon successful San Francisco lawyer takes a well-deserved leave of absence from the firm and buys a boat he names My GRL. He is unaware that his newly purchased boat had already been targeted by a terrorist group. John’s first inkling of a problem is when he wakes up in the hospital where he learns he was found unconscious next to the dead body of the young woman who sold him the boat in the first place. John now stands between the terrorists and the success of their mission.

Birthing

The universe is aching
Full and pregnant with possibility
Birthing new worlds
Far above our sight
No telescope can see
The celestial writhing and delight
This Holy night

A fecund revolution
Dying stars have sacrificed
Their souls to feed
A new born child
Rock and fire formed
No love or loss could here requite
This Holy night

Mere consciousness is breaking
Androgyny and progeny
Dreaming new forms
Made of hope and light
We’ll never understand it
How its teeth will gnash and bite
This Holy night

Rising to the Light

He said he was rising to the light
Each morning from the station
Up flights of stairs to sunshine
Every day he would say
I’m Orpheus returning
From the underworld
And I will not look back
I keep my life on track
By rising to the light

And even when stormclouds and rain
Reduced his goal to muted tones
No sunshine as his guide
Every day he would but smile
An umbrella in his pack
Kept our hero rising
And never looking back
There’s nothing he would lack
By rising to the light

I envied him his surety
That daily grind would yet inspire
To embrace this grimy world entire
The simplicity of hope
No anxiety could attack
The new man here ascending
And never looking back
He truly had the knack
By rising to the light

Druids

Here the druids gathered
Under cover of mystical night
To commune with energies and entities
We have long forgot
And should they walk amongst us now
We see them not
We see them not

Carrying this legacy
More hidden in the secular
The rituals are cloaked in starlight
We have long forgot
And when they work among us now
We see them not
We see them not

Just stones in strange formation
Remind us of the majesty
Of spirituality we’ve born and yet
We have long forgot
And even in their silence
We see them not
We see them not

But power is eternal
It does not ebb and wane
Merely at the whim of vessels
That the world forgot
And when they spin their mysteries
We see them not
We see them not

Wishes

Wish for me now
One little dream
Not what we have
What might have been
Not what you see
Find the unseen
Wish for me now
One little dream

Wish for the world
One little hope
Never the knife
Never the rope
Always the climb
Never the slope
Wish for the world
One little hope

Wish for me now
One little dream
Not just to flow
Floating downstream
Building our strength
Gathering steam
Wish for me now
One little dream
