For You

These things I do
I do for you
We band of friends
Until the end

These battles won
Have just begun
Mere games we play
Must pass away

The stakes are high
And yet I’ll try
To soothe your mind
To be yet kind

I’ll sacrifice
I’ll do this twice
For I so see
You will for me

Dreams For Sale

English: for sale sign

English: for sale sign (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Dreams for sale
Man at the doorway
Peddling hope

Aspiring
To beat the odds now
Try to cope

Dreams for rent
Going cheap these days
This can’t last

Grab it quick
Only one user
From the past

Dreams to trade
Give us your soul now
There’s no need

To hold tight
When you’re already
Lost to greed

Feather

Abraxas and Maat
Playing chess
Determining the balance
Of light and dark
Life and death
Growth and entropy
Redemption has not strayed
To this hall for eons now
Supplicants to lesser gods
Are shunned
We witness here
The threshold of champions
Ancient hands
Moving pawns
Across the board of time
If a feather were to drop
Upon the play now
It would shatter
The world entire
Just a feather
And the balance
Is relinquished
To the fire.

Swimming With Sharks

Their teeth are blunt these days
Their slow approach is flawed
It’s not what it used to be
Machiavelli would be appalled

Their schemes so obvious
We’ve seen it all before
Criminality so banal
They only bend the law

Their linear planning is lost
To their Twitter account
Blink and you’ll miss all the things
They fail to surmount

Swimming with sharks we find
They betray all their plans
To outwit an ancient foe
We now have it in hand

Echo

Echo and Narcissus (1903), a Pre-Raphaelite interpretation by John William Waterhouse (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I can hear you
Reverberate
Separate from me
Thoughts we share
Flying
Spectacularly free
Repeating the message
Are you me?
Are you me?

Twin notes
Repeating now
Across the sky
Echo is vital
Wondering why
Repeating the message
You am I
You am I.

Splashing lights
Shadows that
Wink at the sun
All of this
Melody
Has it begun?
Repeating the message
We are One
We are One

Dragonfly

Dragonfly
soul; enwrap me till
I am lost

Flying high
above me; streaks of
light abound

Touch my hand
Bid me enter here
to your hearth

Dragonfly
wings; shelter me now
from the storm

Evil

Evil waits
Till you cease looking
Till you are calm
And don’t see true
Evil wears
The face of angels
To ensnare
And beguile you

Evil’s patience
Is unstinting
Waiting silent
On its prey
It’s the darkness
Fast approaching
When you just see
Break of day

Evil is
Evil is real
Evil is so intelligent
Evil will wait
Evil Is

Your face seemed kind
The day you smiled at me
It’s true I fell
I wanted to believe
But from the moment I looked back
I’m never free
You took all innocence in your wake
So evilly

Evil was born
Silently
With the will to separate
Eons pass
The will now falters
Seeks to deviate

Evil once born
Can never die
It’s a primal source
It seeks to swallow
All its children
Without remorse

Evil is
The door you should never open
And yet
You turn the key…..

Wings of Angels

On wings of angels
Seraphim carry me
Above the darkness
Up from the deepest sea

Angelic songs awake
Souls now to hear the call
Let me feel everything
Let me embrace them all

Bowed at the feet of
The Mother Divine
Give to me sustenance
Forgiveness sublime

On wings of angels
Michael and Gabriel
Let me remember you
Heal me sweet Raphael

No More

Left Alone . . .

Left Alone . . . (Photo credit: NJ..)

I wanted you once
No more, no more
I needed you once
No more
I paced for you once
The floor, the floor
I turned to your heart
Implored

I believed in you once
Was blind, was blind
Didn’t know you’d be cruel
Not kind
So damage is all
We find, we find
And by tragedy
I’m defined

I fell for you once
No more, nor more
Infatuation will grow
No more
Where once there was love
Abhor, abhor
Where once was so much
No more

Faithful Friend

English: Toy Fox Terrier

English: Toy Fox Terrier (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I still dream of the little dog
I had as a child
Like her spirit has followed me
Carefree and wild
And she comes when I need her
With her comfort so mild
Oh what a faithful companion
To have as a child!

If there really is heaven
To await when we die
A true re-communion
With souls passing by
If I came to those gates
There is one thing I’d cry
Let me rest here a moment
With my companion nearby!
