And a bit about our new favourite fantasy author himself, the wonderful Charles Yallowitz:

Author Bio-

Charles Yallowitz was born and raised on Long Island, NY, but he has spent most of his life wandering his own imagination in a blissful haze. Occasionally, he would return from this world for the necessities such as food, showers, and Saturday morning cartoons. One day he returned from his imagination and decided he would share his stories with the world. After his wife decided that she was tired of hearing the same stories repeatedly, she convinced him that it would make more sense to follow his dream of being a fantasy author. So, locked within the house under orders to shut up and get to work, Charles brings you Legends of Windemere. He looks forward to sharing all of his stories with you and his wife is happy he finally has someone else to play with.

Get your copy as soon as it’s available!!!  Roll on December 1st!!!!

Global

Prominence Earth

Prominence Earth (Photo credit: Lights In The Dark)

Reaching across the hemispheres
Thoughts electric and unbound
Ride on heart, on thought, on tears
History has run aground

Inter-connected artistry
Sings the song the mystics know
All that this world is to me
All the knowledge I can know

Global thinking, global heart
Beating in its mother’s breast
Hands unbidden, firmly clasp
Satisfy the soul the best

Don’t Pursue Me

Don’t pursue me
You’ll go mad with it
I say to you
It happened
To all the others
It will happen to you
Delirium
And terror
You won’t see true
The prohibition is so defined
It must be strong
There’s someone else
Or something else
To whom I belong
Don’t pursue me
You’ll go mad with it
I say to you

Don’t pursue me
It will destroy you
I cry
I’ve seen it so
Many times
Each time I nearly die
Your fantasy
Your need for me
Left high and dry
Possession will always be
In the beholder’s eye
I’ve been this way
For all my years
Don’t pursue me
It will destroy you too
I cry

Music-Less

Neon music sign

Neon music sign (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Over the years it seems my life
Has gradually, slowly come to be
An absence of such pure delight
Or even mournful melody

When I was young I lived the age
When music held such mastery
And all the hours idly spent
In music helped creating me

I learned to sing such perfect notes
Such beauty overcoming me
The lyrics whirling, like my soul
Could forge my way so peacefully

But now in age I seem to find
That silence can surround a home
I do not play my favourite songs
I do not sing, though all alone

My new life here is so prescribed
I do not know the how or why
I first chose to withdraw, deny
The dreams and songs I once lived by

Now if I ever sing a note
It ricochets throughout these halls
I sound just like lamenting ghosts
Whose memories don’t belong at all

I can’t recall the day or hour
When inward some decision made
Led to this strange forgetfulness
And silenced my young life’s parade

So music-less I pass my time
And barely miss the melody
My youthful self would see a crime
In what my age has done to me

It would be just the veil of life
Forgetting where I once belonged
And so in silence pass my days
When once I lived inside a song

Bermuda Triangle

Map of the Bermuda Triangle

Map of the Bermuda Triangle (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

You are the Bermuda triangle
Lovers circle you
And disappear from view
Lost ships of longing
Drawn within
Your hidden depths

You are the Bermuda triangle
All their dreams
And plans for futures unseen
Swirl deep and down
Your indecisiveness
Your grasping need

You are the Bermuda triangle
Scientists should study you
A phenomenon of blackness
Of parallel existences
All wrapped up in the mystery
That is you

Take Me Back – for Prompt 31 Take Me Back

ghost in the window

ghost in the window (Photo credit: The Raggedy-man)

He stood
Bedraggled urchin
on the doorstep
He was a parcel
left open in the rain
A supplicant gazing
into my unblinking eyes
one more time
‘Take me back’

I’d envisaged this moment
a thousand, thousand times
But not like this
Somewhere more elegant
even eloquent
A dance hall dressed
for a dark masked ball
Where they dance forever
to the same sad song
‘Take me back’

And words I uttered
to the brittle wind
would make little sense
to all else but us
And it could be he did not hear me
Could not divine my intent
‘I cannot take back
What I never had’

Blistering moments
too long ago
belong to another life, another life
And can I recall?
It’s all scattered debris
soaked in tears
we never shed
‘Take me back’

He’s a ghost I think
or perhaps that’s me
Memory eludes me these days
Just whispering on the breeze
A black crow that’s beating
pecking at my door
‘Take me back’

And I repeated it
Said it again, again
Against all my will and his
As though these words alone
could tempt the earth
to swallow us whole
Drag him down with me
‘I cannot take back
what I do not own’

Hands outstretched
Beggar’s hands
Dirty and shaking
Frenetically alive
Guilt darkens the skin
not just the heart it seems
‘Take me back’

The back door is banging now
Driven, gusting through the house
rendering it as emptiness
How bereft of all life
and it’s been this way
too many years
‘Take me back’

‘But it’s too late’ I whisper
It’s always too late
I’m hovering, lessening now
In the yard under a tree
I lie waiting, just waiting
for something that comes
far too late
‘I cannot take back
What I cannot hold’

‘And my hands rest too long
In my soul there’s no song
With no-one to belong
And I can’t take you back
I’m only now what I lack
And far too far down this track
Down this track……

Simplicity

Small White butterfly (Pieris rapae)

Small White butterfly (Pieris rapae) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The simplicity of moments
A child’s laugh
A pure blue sky
The face of a friend
The perfect butterfly
The simplicity is all

The simplicity of lifetimes
Youthful innocence
Tempestuous adolescence
Stretching wings of adulthood
Yielding now to aging’s essence
The simplicity is all

Maestro

An opened up pomegranate.

An opened up pomegranate. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Brick by brick we build
There is no shortcut
To what the deep horizon holds
No alchemist to quickly turn
Rank debris into gold
No mother here
To sternly scold
Just will, desire
Fully involved

Step by step we climb
Each foothold here
Is but a web and weave of grace
Which no genius of brevity
May yet replace
No pomegranate
For our taste
We stand before
Our own eternal face

Life by life we grow
A child, a man
Again a child in innocence
We make our fates
On perfect circumstance
And higher powers
May observe, may glance
To see at last
Our Maestro’s dance
