Dancing

A dancing sweet delight
Two lovers in the night
The moon here witness to
The weave of black and blue

We’re drunken on the air
Part victory, part despair
And should you steal a kiss
Such momentary bliss!

The music here is all
A sultry siren’s call
A dancing sweet delight
Two lovers in the night

Before the Sun

In such races do not run
Do not worry little one
Deepest dark precedes the sun

When you fall and hit the ground
Little blood and littler sound
Nothing new here to be found

Life’s a game, a turn about
Live with pain or die without
At this moment have no doubt

Just a choice to make it flow
Escaping every body blow
Sometimes best to just let go

Nothing’s lost if nought’s begun
See this wisdom little one
Be the dark before the sun
Be the dark before the sun

Moon Kissed

And the moon kissed the ocean
The briefest flirtation
Reflected light spilling
Across the dark, rolling waves

And the ocean blushed deep blue
Drawn into moonly madness
Tidal waves a siren call
Answered in the night

And the moon kissed the ocean
A second, lingering time
Like a promise of the breaking dawn
A lover’s wistful caress

And the ocean opened wide
To swallow moonly love whole
So dawn could not steal away
Its lovely, strange delight

False – for Prompt 68 A Smile To Remember

The false smile
of a sometime friend
Just pretend
Glittering eyes
Be careful not to
over-analyse

A breathless kiss
A broken game is all
there this
And how you beamed
while smashing all my
hopeless dreams

A soul apart
Behind your smile’s a
place to start
Frozen in time
a perfect moment
lost in rhyme

Awash with pain
I know it never
comes again
In just a while
all I’ll remember
is your smile

Temporary Rubies

It is said of this river that long ago year
It ran red with blood like a mad demon’s tears
and the ice from the frost crystallised with the red
like temporary rubies everywhere spread

Beneath ravaged waters all of their sins
found a place there to rest and yet to begin
to unravel the bloody demise in their wake
So temporary rubies dissolve here and break

Yet the silt gathered warmth on the cold riverbed
Metallic approximations created instead
And as the rest of the evidence wasted away
some temporary rubies still left on display

This bloody river forever now named
And for the reddish hue so many are blamed
But of the souls lost on the riverbed floor
only temporary rubies, no less and no more

Approach

This approaches now by water
Or by fire
We may ride the wave triumphant
Or expire
We may warm our skin by sunshine
Or we burn
We are gone in one brief instant
Or return

This approaches like the dawn
Will follow night
We may drown within the depths
Or yet alight
We may open up our arms
Or close in hate
We may warm the world or yet
Annihilate

This approaches like a warning
At the dawn
We must rise to meet this moment
Or be gone

Initiate

Minerva is watching
Through her owls
People are hovering
Hidden by cowls
All of your efforts
Weakly displayed
Naked and vulnerable
Making the grade

Initiate in waiting
For wisdom’s voice
Do you remember
If you had a choice?
Ancient beliefs
In modern-day
Never to falter
Never to stray

Minerva is watching
Owls balance scales
Will you surrender
Will you prevail?

Vale Robin Williams

They say what we see
Of shining stars
Is distant death
Like light you fell
The saddest news
We draw our breath

From pain is fashioned
The purest silk
Soliloquy
You made them laugh
You danced for all
The world to see

A poorer place
We rise to know
Within your wake
I hope that from
This world you find
Some peace to take

Vale to one
Who held the world
Within his hand
A loss we feel
As strangers, so
Can’t understand

Merging

We go together
So perfectly
Our bodies fit
Like symmetry
I look to you
And you look to me

We’ve been merging
Now for days
I’m under your skin
In so many ways
And you’re under mine
I beg you stay

We’re almost twins
Perfect in love
We fit completely
Hand now in glove
One part beneath
One part above

We go together
So perfectly
Our bodies fit
Like symmetry
I look to you
And you look to me

Aspire

Mountains of morning
Cascading light beckoning
A weary traveller may pause
And watch in wonder as the sun
Unites again with sky

Sweet hidden worlds
Beckoning the seeker
This is but an awakening
From dream into a dream
Into a dream

Mountains of remembrance
Waiting your promised return
A kingdom slumbers
Fitful as a child excited
Hours from Christmas morn
