Precious

Precious moment
Precious child
Running freely
Singing wild

Desperate longing
Valued friend
Cleave now to me
till the end

Precious memory
Fortune’s choice
Give no secrets
to your voice

Longed for future
Beloved past
Would this moment
only last

Sickness

Feeling ill #1

Feeling ill #1 (Photo credit: Idhren)

Sickness pulsates
First vague headache
Along stretched sinuses
And belly turning
Inner revolutions
Simultaneously
Chills across the torso
Pin pricking arms
And deep tiredness
Susserates the form
Eyes heavy but somehow
Too swollen to close
Back and forth
Undulating waves
Strange vertigo descends
A viral inhabitant
Seeks succour and security
As the battle for health
Begins.

I Am No-one

Darkness

Darkness (Photo credit: Roberto F.)

I am no-one
Nothing to you
I slink in shadows
The depths create me
I am of the dark

Out of the corner
Of your eye
You think you see me
For a moment
Paused by silence
Till I slip away

But a ghost
Not even that
A fear within
Your amygdala
Reptile twisting
Sparkling eyes
See shadows rise

I will be here
After your passing
Still flickering
In another’s mind
After all your
Fears of me
Are left behind

I am no-one
I am nothing
Nobody to you
I am legion
Just a reflection
Seen darkly
In your mirror
Of forgotten
Memory

Love Rites

Rose quartz illuminated
Procession of women
Of porcelain hue
Glowing with knowledge
And unity
The moment before
Sweet surrender
To the tones and pitch
Of love

Dark onyx undulates
Rings on broad fingers
Passing dark hooded eyes
Celebration of men
Awaiting their moment now
In the hallowed halls
Of love

After Life

English: An artist’s impression of a portal or door to the spirit world. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

As we pass from life
If there is nothing
No consciousness or form
Our bodies food for worms
Or the crematorium fire
Then there is no disappointment
Or dismay
There is nothing

But if the soul
Continues on
Then who is right
And who is wrong?
All the creeds
And spiritual paths
Narrow to this one apex
This life after life

None return to tell us
Even reincarnation
Has the opiate of forgetfulness
And science and the spirit
Do not agree
On the cause of light and imagery
In the near death state
Is it glory
Leading to loved ones
Or only the declining point
Of a dying
Mortal and temporal mind?
Is there a life after life
Or are we more limited in design?

Never Know

Lost Love

Lost Love (Photo credit: Inge Vautrin Photography)

I loved you
But did not know the way
I had some words
But not the art to say
The message deep
Silent and still within
I loved you then
But would not yet begin

Did you love me?
I see I’ll never know
Your actions might have been
To let such feelings show
But I was cowardly
And deep within, inept
I shut my eyes
And all my secrets kept.

Solitude

Red balloon

Red balloon (Photo credit: daveypea)

A leaf floating down the gutter
After heavy rainfall
Disappearing into the dark cavern
Of the drain

A balloon rising briskly
So high into the sky
Floating onward to eternity
With no anchor to still its progress away
Alone

A single blackbird
High atop winter bare branches
Of a dark tree silhouette
At dusk

All destroy my heart
With the essence of loneliness
Make me pause
And commune with the desolation
Of the final solitude of life.

Modern Day Court

English: Integrated boardroom designed and installed by EDG in 2003. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The Boardroom here’s
A medieval court
The games here played
Are of the vicious sort
It’s just who you know
And who the ‘king’ may blame
That will see you rise
Or kills your game

You future plays
With truth or rumour spread
And words that ebb
Could flow and cost your head
Your number crunching
Your powerpoints
Decide which courtiers
The CEO annoints

A presentation is
Just a power play
Which shows the gladiator world
Is here to stay
If you’d survive
To strive another day
Remember, best with kings
To simply bow, obey.

More Random Haiku

Sparrow song
Morning troubador
welcomes Spring

Winter frost
Coat of brittle white
sadly worn

Poetry
Way to speak of truth
with design

Coffee run;
See the stitched up suits
in full flight

At day’s end
ponder; was the race
worth the time?

Game Score

If you would walk
Step by step with me
For but one day
All our differences
Brooding wrongs
Might ease away

If you would walk
Down a pathway here
For just a mile
We may unite
Relinquish all our cause
To revile

If you would talk
For a moment here
By my side
In our words
Find new harmony
Balance pride

But if you turn
Keep your back to me
As before
Nothing’s left
Nought of worth to gain
Just the score
