Even a cat may dream
Perhaps especially this feline
Slinky purveyor of the night
Can climb to the highest point
And taunt the stars
Spread out like a banquet
For its fastidious palate
Hanging the moon
Out to dry
Even a cat may dream
And who are we to say
Their dreams are not more complex
More careful and of course feline
Than any we may dwell upon
As we sleep oblivious beneath them
While they prowl and stalk
The restless night?
Perhaps indeed the cat may say
With more surety than us
That even we may dream
If they open up the doors
And let us in
I hazard a guess
In this good night
I will not dream
Until the dreaming of the cat begins
And even a cat may dream

For the love of the felines, albeit the virtual ones.
