Solace

Sorrow

Sorrow (Photo credit: Christolakis)

Where find such solace
When inevitable decay
Spreads its diseased tendrils
Across each and every pathway?
Once friends and now so other
Though I tried
To still the tide
You are yourself
Can be no other
Can be no other

I’d give you solace
Where myself am lost
And while I bring the sword
Insist you pay the cost
Unleashing hells
And though I warned
We’re both forlorn
You carve your way
You can be no-one else
You can be no-one else

There is no solace
For grief that rides on war
Just in our natures
What we were put here for
Nothing here divine
It’s just we two
What we must do
You have your path
And I have mine
And I have mine

It sounds sort of like a peaceful resignation…a calm after a storm.
