You are well pressed
Sleek lines
Barely visible
Controlled pinstripes
White collar
Jacket crisp
Waiting in a line
For the morning coffee
iPad glowing
News rushing in

Like you
Your eyebrows
Neatly manicured
Cufflinks shining
Modest light
You look the part
Like out of a
Catalogue
Which makes me wonder
As I watch you
Are you more than
Just a suit?

I always have wondered when I was a suit and found most are just a suit. I now wear flip flops, shorts and T-shirt and wonder if similar dressed are more than shorts, flip flops and a T shirt. So far I think not.
Maybe the apparel reflects the person and their life rather than the other way round then? Thanks for commenting!! π π
Does the suit make the man or does the man make the suit look good? π
Depends on the man I suppose! π π I think suits look good for the most part, it’s just a particular type of suit wearer I was tilting at with this poem. π
I don’t suit suits. The very name ‘suit’ is ironic for me. Whenever I’ve been forced to wear a suit I always end up looking like Worzel Gummidge.
Embrace your individuality my friend!! π π
delightful – one of the many joys of retirement is no more suits
Yes!!! Than you! π π
That should have said ‘thank you’, not than you…LOL
this is a great question to ponder? Many suits I know are just that – status quo – I do not know many otherwise.
Most I know are very ambitious, which tends towards conservatism, but of course there are some that break the mold! π π
Contrary to what Shakespeare thought, the apparel doth NOT proclaim the man – but you know that, which is why you penned this poem of perspicuity. Nicely done.
Thanks Mike!!! Much appreciated!! π π
I remember suits, when living the single life in the city….. yet I am fairly distanced from them out in the bush, pretty much a non event. I love your words.
Thank you so much, that is so kind of you! π
of course they are, they jus don’t know it π
LOL, yes! π π Thanks!
Having spent years on Wall Street and eliminating starch from my life years ago, I no longer chafe at the neck or the false image. Love this piece.
Thanks so much Eric!! π π
