Snuggled in my quilt
Like a child
While the wind howls
Its misery
Outside
So sublime
To be quiet, settled
Safe
For a time
So warm and enfolded
Still, as though
Expecting a moment
To arrive
Sleep beckons
Like a playful friend
Drawing me down
To silence
In the end
Of all moments
In a sometimes scarred life
This most pure
And hopeful
Protected and calm
Hear the rain
As it batters
The streets and garden below
This is peace
Tranquility
I can know

This poem is perfect for the weather we’re having here in Manchester (UK) – how did you KNOW? 🙂
Because we’re having the same weather here in Australia, LOL!! 🙂 🙂
I love a good rainstorm. My senses seem to come alive for them. Wonderfully worded as always, Helen. I so enjoy your blog. Keep it up.
Thanks Ray, that is very kind. And I so enjoy your blog too!! 🙂 🙂
i love the rain usually, took a nice 5mile (slow) bikeride in it earlier today 🙂
LOL, yes, rain and its beauty is quite dependent on where one is when it is raining – inside in the warmth is always the best alternative! 🙂 🙂
hehehe yes, but if needs must be outdoors then we may aswell enjoy it 🙂
Usually I end up with a paw in my face from a bored cat who doesn’t want to go outside to play.
LOL, cats are like that! 🙂 🙂
We do have this moments and thank goodness, eh?
Delightful poem.
Thank you so much!! 🙂 🙂
😀 Happy weekend, Helen.
such a soft and soothing poem 🙂 the rain can sound peaceful
It certainly can! Thank you so much!! 🙂 🙂
So wonderful and serene!
Thanks so much!! 🙂 🙂
Warm fuzzies abound!! Loved it, Sis!
Thanks Skye!! 🙂 🙂 xxx
Love these images… reminding me of tucking (hiding) under the covers as a child.. the safe place from monsters in the dark of night… and the lovely sound of rain on the roof outside, a knowing that one is safe inside… lovely.
Exactly!! It’s odd, and delightful too, how safe you do feel snuggled into blankets – whether it be from the weather, or monsters under the bed!! 🙂
