Bubble bath

Bubble bath
Sheer indulgence
Senses primed
by water and perfume

I recline
A momentary movie star
luxuriating
in my mind
A happy reverie,
simple dream

One by one
the bubbles burst
Last ones forming
moving pictures
on the water’s surface

Scattered remnants
Translucent
and flat
The last hurrah
As if to say
it is time
to pull the plug
and go

I love it!! What a wonderful description of the process of an actual bubble bath! *pop* *pop* *pop*

it does sound lovely, and your poem captures it beautifully. I can’t say I have ever indulged in a bubble bath, but it almost sounds like something I should try … once. 🙂

  4. The short staccato lines, especially in the final stanza, simulate burting bubbles nicely. Well done. Perhaps something like this would accentuate it even more:
    it’s time
    to pull
    the plug
    and go

    • That’s a good suggestion – I’m a bit slack about revising poems after I’ve written them, but if I ever seek to use this in later work or something to publish I’ll certainly take the suggestion on board. 🙂

  5. I just did this the other morning for the first time in forever, and you have captured it perfectly.

The moment has been captured with absolute visual brilliance….I really love your posts, only that I don’t consider myself eligible for a comment, every time…

    • Oh thank you, and your comments are always welcome – though by no means feel that it is expected or required of you (or anyone else who comments, I just apprciate the time taken when anyone does)! 🙂

I love your work so really appreciate any time you ‘like’ or comment on mine! 🙂

  7. the adjective for this poem is comfy. I want to relax and lie on your poem.

  8. Oh wow, a bubble bath, an indulgence I have not submerged into for a long time. Might be time…really love the ending. Wonderful capture!
