Dark Knights begin their marching
In a bleak parade
A modern-day Hamlet
By obsession is betrayed
His every fevered thought
Through the media relayed
By the lake they watch and wait
For the Dark Knights passing by
And could this be Ophelia
Who in lilied water lies?
Such love to pass un-noticed
Till invisible, its dies
Dark Knights tether their horses
Pour wine and raise the toast
And look upon their master
This pale and vengeful ghost
For those who brood on history
Are captured by it most
Dark Knights inspire an author
To pen a timeless play
And all the themes of honour
Resonate to present day
But Dark Knight’s hidden secrets
No poetry betrays.

Love this!! Brilliant!!
Thank you – I wasn’t sure if it worked or not..I just had these two weird concepts clashing in my brain – the vision of dark, portentous knights on some journey to battle and Hamlet…odd (given I dont think Hamlet has Dark Knight LOL), but I went with it anyway – it felt like the knights somehow represnted a dark muse for the writer or something! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Awesome!
Thank you!! 🙂
First, well-written and enjoyable storyline … second, it’s funny how associations run wild … my contextualization ran to Star Wars (wait, maybe I am revealing too much about myself, nvm) And Hamlet just brings back BAD memories of having to attempt to read Shakespeare IN CLASS but all of that aside, I still enjoyed your poem. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much…it was a strange genesis for this poem so no association would seem bizarre to me!! 🙂
Good stuff!
Thank you so much!! 🙂
very nice tempo and rhythm!
Thank you so much!! 🙂
I enjoyed reading Dark Knights, it conjured up a romantic notion of a time gone by, thank you 🙂
Thank you so much, really appreciate your kind words! 🙂
