Nip Tuck

Various scalpels

Just a minor alteration
No need for such great vexation
Nip and tuck, precise intent
Know your money is well spent

On your face or in your life
I can skilfully turn my knife
Anything you want cut out
Will be gone without a doubt

Blemish here, or errant groom?
Secrets never leave this room
Contracts written on the side
Can release unhappy brides

So if you’re unhappy, wife
Nip tuck him right out of life
Facelift now, and work with me
Life lifts thrown in just for free!

What Am I? For Prompt 21 My Story

Dark Cerulean Butterfly (Jamides bochus) Famil...

Dark Cerulean Butterfly (Jamides bochus) Family: Lycaenidae (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I am chrysalis returned, awakening
I ask only for my mind’s true linearity
That I learn from, not forget, my painful memories
I turn, evolve, so deep within my skin

I am butterfly wings expanding, trembling
I absorb all information as a food, a source
Revise my view as different needs are changing course
Electric energy I writhe, I sing

I am nothingness and nothing is my song
This melody of time is just my fevered soul
Embrace the earth, a mother who would swallow whole
This planetary orb where I belong

I am chrysalis asleep, awaiting later years
When rising from the darkness I can yet return
Until then in this solitude I’ll bleed and burn
And comfort others, gathering their tears

For mindlovemisery’s latest prompt at :  http://mindlovemisery.wordpress.com/2013/09/15/prompt-21-my-story/

She asked for a story that is personal to answer a question – I chose not a specific story nor time in my life but a question for its overview, and possibly even before and beyond this incarnation (if other lives possibly exist).  So this is maybe a bit esoteric, but its the best distillation I could do of what I am inside.  🙂

Midas To Bacchus – for Right2Write Prompt 10 – Bacchus and Midas

Bacchus and Midas, Nicolas Poussin

Bacchus and Midas, Nicolas Poussin

Let us weigh the balance, you and I
My fingertips flow gold and yours flow wine
I’m earthly rulership and you divine
Let us weigh the balance, you and I

Grant for me a moment free from gold
For I would drink with you here without gain
Your sweet elixir blotting out my pain
Grant for me a moment free from gold

Then I will weave you riches of the world
Your revelry and play has needs and price
So here from one so fallen take advice
Then I will weave you riches of the world

Dare I blame you yet for how I fell?
Intoxicated once I made a vow
For riches true, but see this beggar now
Dare I blame you yet for how I fell?

Let us weigh the balance, you and I
My greed was my addiction, not your wine
And all the loss and blame here must be mine
Let us weigh the balance, you and I

Fetish

shadow

shadow (Photo credit: shikeroku)

You are my fetish
I don’t want you real
Your effect must be heightened
Revealed, not concealed
I want to just linger
On the sweep of your face
The song and the singer
Not even a trace

You are my fetish
I’ll never let on
This is just my secret
A dream wished upon
I’ll never approach you
I’ll speak not a word
To think of us meeting
Is truly absurd

You are my fetish
I want you afar
I’m only the moon, dear
You shine like a star
I’ll never yet touch you
You must understand
You’re just my lost fetish
It’s all that I planned

Cult Status

He had
Cult status
Long before
He knew
He drew
Aficionados
Right out of
The blue
He couldn’t
Stand us
Neither me
Nor you
But he had
Cult status
Nothing he
Could do

He suffered
Cult status
One of the
Elite
All these
Roses
Dying at
His feet
He felt
Shattered
Always
Incomplete
But he had
Cult status
How could life
Compete?

End of an Era

I always felt she epitomised
the end of an era
Like a queen surveying
her own jazz age
She was born out of time
A moment too late
Like an exclamation mark
to remind us of former days
that never existed
We only dreamed they did
And she our patron
and our guide in this
The end of an era

Her deep intelligence
behind sky blue eyes
portrayed such endings
and beginnings
she had yet to realise
And there’s a mournful melody
I recall when I’m alone
And it seems to wear her face
And it seems to have her tone
As though I saw her in that moment
she turned to smile goodbye
At the end of an era
At the end of a sigh

Light and Shade

English: Light and shade

English: Light and shade (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

What we would have given
in those days for some variety,
some light and shade
For our hides were riven,
with tears and pain to provide
some semblance of existence
So high drama, while in reality
our lives were perfect harmony
Or at least enough, no fears, no worries monetary
Just greyness by degrees

Youth is not so much wasted
on the young, as misunderstood
On such starry nights our dreams
were flung up to be so much more
than we’d begun, a triumphal parade
laced with tears, regrets and shame, a
little light and shade

Now in later years our bones
complain in simple moments and
our hair so grey barely glistens
even in the star filled night
And we crave our comforts and our security
like a blanket casually draped upon me, there
is much more in health and surety, than the glittering
painful parade, that comes with
light and shade

Last Exit

Waiting as it hits
Lingering by your door
Creating a memory

My last exit
Like the one before
Returning to me

This time is the end
No more may I turn
And re-enter the room

Goodbye my friend
I cannot return
Flowers cease to bloom

The Busy Signal

Telephone Keypad

Telephone Keypad (Photo credit: Chris Campbell)

Half past ten
Dark morning
Lingering over coffee
My hand strays
Silently prays
Again and again
In barely hidden
Bleak despair
For once again
Again it’s there
The busy signal

I said I’d call
You said you’d be
Waiting by your phone
To answer me
Each time I try
Reveals the lie
For once again
Again it’s there
The busy signal

Perhaps you mean
To make a point
So I understand
Your time’s not yours
So popular
What it is to be
So in demand
Instead it’s pain
You give, no more
For once again
Again it’s there
The busy signal

Ocean Liner

SS Leviathan, ocean liner

SS Leviathan, ocean liner (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Here we are now out at sea
A fashionista cavalry
Wild and spitfire reverie
Quick, take a photo, you and me
Out upon the sea

This ocean liner is so grand
As couples wander hand in hand
Each new diversion carefully planned
There’s something here to understand
At our command

By day the sea is deep and blue
Its icy wonder beguiles you
At night it’s blackness through and through
It holds such secrets, no-one knew
Just what we’d do

Here we are now out at sea
The wine, the lights, the gallantry
The hearts are broken, one, two, three
Nothing’s what it seems to be
Out on the sea
