Awaken

graveyard

Awaken now at this first bitter light
Survey a scene of all these lives betrayed
Abomination to the very sight
Lost each and every chance we had to save
Remember this, the vows you can’t set right
The lies you spoke are taken to their graves

The choices made when loyalties are torn
Will remake you as though you were a child
And from these blasphemies this new world born
From blood and broken bones is cruelly styled
It matters not the oaths that you have sworn
By your hand only is your world exiled

See as you march your dark parade of one
Expedience is now your closest friend
Oh cry your tears, the choice is not undone
You fashioned how this bloodbath here must end
You sold them all to be dark Fortune’s son
Forgive you now? A gift I can’t pretend

Precious Reflection

BAW52/3

BAW52/3 (Photo credit: PeculiarForest)

Precious reflection
Of an imperfect past
Butterflies pinned
Under this cold glass

Precious mementos
Tied to the post
Sashes and scarves
Treasured the most

Precious beliefs
Etched under your skin
This is where longing
Yearns to begin

Precious kept feelings
Inside your heart
This is where mercy
And freedom depart

Evolution

DNA

DNA (Photo credit: Steven2005)

Double helix
Twists widdershins
Tiny cracks
In the unity
Creates new form
Struggling to be born
From infertile ground

Stretch to be
The Other
Separate from
But built upon
Edifice of ages
The backward sweeping clock
Tracks time
Into the immemorial

Evolution
Burns on this pitiless pyre
The alarming fire
Of brute necessity
The splitting seams
Of consensus reality
Give way at last
To a dread and brand new day

Wordle prompt – Somatic Need

The dark cave at the start of Big Thunder Mountain RR in Disneyland. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This somatic need
So cloying and demanding
Overwhelms the spirit

It is a tether
To a darker underground
Where we all depart light

Here a spectral sylph
May entice the unwary
To naked awakening

The final passing
Skin to seamless skin
On the path to hell

For mindlovermisery’s wordle prompt, at http://mindlovemisery.wordpress.com/2013/05/26/prompt-5-wordle-challenge

This week’s prompt was a wordle challenge with a distinctly supernatural theme, so I hope the result fits!

Sympathy (for Anne Boleyn)

Portrait of Anne Boleyn, Henry’s second queen; a later copy of an original painted in about 1534 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This cup is full
Half blood, half molten gold
An offering before the king
This cup is full

No longer young
Half maid, half woman grown
Years passed so very fast
No longer young

Desire’s slave
Half fool, half wise
Splendid love from heaven above
Desire’s slave

A broken choice
Half loved, half loathed
Mother here but little cheer
A broken choice

An unheard voice
Half innocent, half lost
This tiny plea, forsake not me
An unheard voice

This cup is spent
Half acceptance, half fear
The head will fall to prove to all
This cup is spent

Drink To Me

Mademoiselle Rose et Monsieur Blanc

Mademoiselle Rose et Monsieur Blanc (Photo credit: Biscarotte)

Drink to me
As though you care
Drink to me
To show you’re there
Though I know
It isn’t true
Drink to me
I’ll drink to you

Drink for what
We might have been
Drink for all
The days unseen
Though I know
You couldn’t dream
Drink for all
The truths unseen

Drink to me
And just pretend
This moment’s joy
Will never end
Though I know
You must depart
Drink to me
My hopeless heart

Never Settle

The Summer Triangle

The Summer Triangle (Photo credit: Robert Snache – Spirithands.net)

Shine a light
Across this darkened street
Run for your life
Down alleyways at night
Reach for the stars
Before they dim their lights above
Look for the jewels
In the debris of forgotten love

Sing your truth
To an indifferent crowd
Hold the banner
In a singular parade
Never settle now
For less than the glory above
Never settle for less
Than the very best of love

Champagne wishes
Caviar dreams
Fine silken suits
Frayed at the seams
Cocktails in crystal
My how they gleam!
Champagne wishes
Caviar dreams

Fox in the hen-house
Secrets betrayed
Masks full of memories
Lost masquerade
All of the finery
Richly displayed
Fox in the hen-house
Secrets betrayed
