Serenity

The traffic hum breaks the serenity
Early morning, darkness bleaching
From the cool and dappled sky
Even now the hurried lives go by
The hurried lives go by

The moon’s still weeping up above us
But the dawn is on its silvery heels
I stretch my body, breathe and sigh
Even now the hurried lives go by
The hurried lives go by

Soon I’ll join them in the melee
As the softness gives to daylight
I think wiser men may stop and sigh
Even now the hurried lives go by
The hurried lives go by
