Rest Tonight

I shall sleep under stars
Which know not my name
Wrapped in a cloak of a stranger
Brief friend on ill trodden paths

I will drink of cool waters
Before resting my head
On the grass by the foot
Of a broken oak tree

I will pray to the angels
I find some rest tonight
Tomorrow I journey
I know not where

This land is so harsh
The sun above was so cruel
That all through the day
I have longed just for night

Let me here shut my eyes
And close out all sight
For this life is so cruel
Let me just rest tonight
