Bad For You

You had to go there didn’t you?
You had to see this story through
You had to follow on a glance
And build your world on circumstance

You had to wonder at a smile
You lingered there a little while
You had to risk the greater fall
You thought that you would have it all

You had to linger in the halls
No matter how your fate befalls
You had to whisper of your love
And pray for kinder gods above

You had to follow his dark road
The stranger yet, the more you strode
You followed to the hearth and home
Of one much better left alone

And then to build your foolish pride
You’d court the wolf that lived inside
To prove to others that your faith
Was sure and stable, pure and safe

You had to go there didn’t you
Deny the grey, embrace the blue
And hold to your lost dreams so true
When all of this was bad for you?
