These hallway steps lead to nowhere
or to somewhere far, far worse
I’ve heard it told in whispered corners
all these things that they would warn us
Talk of devils and of danger and a curse
These hallways steps lead downwards
seem to spiral and expand
There’s pain laced within the shadows
Vows and promises –ย we can’t know
if we fall if we will break and where we land
These hallways steps are delusion
Drunk dissociation’s worst
As a child just creeping down them
holdingย fears like we would drown them
we made our history within this fractured verse

SO Good Helen.
Thanks so much!! ๐ ๐
Helen, I used this same image a very long while ago as it spoke to me as it obviously did to you as well. It is uncanny how there is a similarity to the thoughts this image provoked in you, and to the flash fiction piece I wrote quite a while ago. I hope that when you find time you might go take a look at it and see what you think? I am always amazed at the seemingly close bond of thoughts and ideas we writer’s share from time to time over such long distances and without having ever met. Just another reason I treasure ALL my WordPress friends. Here is a link to my piece. Hope you enjoy it when you find time.

Be well friend and keep inspiring
I forgot to also say that this is such a solid write from you. Gripping and powerful.
Thanks! ๐
Thank you – I went and read your piece and it’s fabulous! It is a very evocative photo – love what you did with it! ๐ ๐ And I agree it’s interesting how creativity and what seems like psychic connections seem to occur so often together. ๐
Thanks for reading. Glad you liked it. That psychic connection baffles me but is so welcomed. It is so awe inspiring to share a wavelength with so many talented artists here.
It always makes me think that life and existence is so much more complex and mysterious than we tend to think in our day to day lives… ๐
So true. I completely agree. I believe however that to have any understanding of such things would make us complacent and uninspired. Things exist that I would much rather wonder about. With wonder comes inspiration is my belief.
