I wasn’t The One
In the end it wasn’t me
You took into your heart
To hold you tenderly
It wasn’t me
And when she calls your name
It isn’t with my voice
It just can’t be the same
There’s no-one here to blame
I wasn’t The One
This love was never real
This darkly sinking loss
Is nothing I should feel
And yet I’m still quite cross
It should hold such appeal
And yet it isn’t real…

But if you were, we might miss this great poem. 🙂
Thanks John! 🙂
Nicely done reminds me some thirty-five years ago.
Thank you! 🙂
Hurts and stings. Says it simply and with feeling.
Thank you!! 🙂
Sigh….so sad……I have known the sting of this. You captured it well. Hugs, Sis.
Thanks Skye – I actually literally dreamed this poem, I ‘wrote it’ in a dream then remembered it on waking and rushed out of bed to scribble it down so I wouldn’t forget it, then posted it the next morning. 🙂
