I’ve been talking with Abraxas
He confuses what is true
He is balance, one part darkness
One part sunlight is his view

I’ve been asking him some questions
All the mysteries I hold
He’s enigma, he’s enjoyment
He is warmth and he is cold

He’s so ancient, this Abraxas
He’s forgotten but he’s there
I can hear him in the shadows
I can see him on the stair

I’ve been talking with Abraxas
Some say demon, some say god
And if what he says is wisdom
It is still obtuse and odd

I’m in awe of his great power
How he’s hiding in the shade
All the balances he’s struck now
All the laws must be obeyed

I’ve been talking with Abraxas
He is quite a sight to see
He is one part revelation
And is one part mystery

This is so weird. I had a locket with that image on it in junior high school. Our home economics teacher had taken us to the dump on a field trip to find items to use in our class and I found it at the landfill. I did not know what it meant and neither did she. She did say that it was Hebrew, but never said Jewish. I wore it for a long time until I lost it. I have looked around for this image. I never thought I would see that image again.

    • It’s supposed to be a charm to ward off evil if you wear it, so it’s probably good to have one! Abraxas is an interesting entity or deity, depending on your point of view. 🙂

I was wearing mine when everybody else was wearing St. Christopher…sounds like the same sort of thing though.

      • LOL, though I am not sure the Christian church would have approved if they’d known! Abraxas is an ancient entity/deity, and like most of those was probably demonised by later religions. Ultimately, though, it was supposed to be a protective amulet, so not to worry, LOL! 🙂 🙂

  2. Love the rhyme and meter. Now I just need a quick history lesson. Ha ha. 🙂

  5. Hmmm.

I believe I have worked with Abraxas-energies a time or two.

If there is a very strong need to maintain balance in the energies you call up (during ritual, or whichever occasion), Abraxas is a great candidate to call upon.
