Dragon Dream – for Prompt 40 Sheer Wonder

Adrift in city streets at night
No cars in sight
I’m calling to a distant light
These stars indeed might fall for me
They might

A single child lost in despair
With no-one there
As susseration splits the air
My feet are bare, but you
Might care

Above the cityscape it flies
A lonely prize
A dragon bright before my eyes
I’m not surprised, I called and
It replies

A fractured memory
A dream to me
And into daylight I proceed
You cannot see and yet recall
Reality

The ship that hovered overhead
Will know I’ve bled
In blistering light, such tears I’ve shed
And I’ve been led, my story yet
Unsaid

I know at last what this has been
A puppet in between
It’s one part beauty, one obscene
And all we might have been, a dance
A dream

This is based on an amazing dream I had recently which certainly made me feel sheer wonder on awaking and recalling it. 🙂
