Prom Queen

She was once the prom queen
She was held in high esteem
There was never in between
Not for this pure prom queen

That was in her younger days
Then she had her power plays
And she had her charming ways
But so long now since those days

What of all the prom queens old
All their memories now on-sold
Is life’s lustre now so cold
That their story has been told?

She was once the prom queen
But what she has not foreseen
It is youth that makes life green
And it’s age that makes has-beens

Very nice, Sis! I always wonder what happened to the prom queens and the not-so-nice cheerleaders who thought they were all that and a slice of bread. I wonder if they are still making other’s lives miserable, or if life has tempered them a bit. Hmmmm??

  2. Hey Helen, you could sell this one to a Rap Singer – New career opening opportunity 😀

  3. Good one Helen, if the message is we all age and what was once is no longer, and how sad is that, then well done.

  4. When they were queens we all thought they were so beautiful. Today like the rest of us not so much. Nice poem.

  5. Goes to show they had their insecurities…. why else would it be necessary to bully others? Good piece Sis xxxx

  6. I imagine it is hard to Have people fawning over you and then have old age begin to move in. Hugs, Barbara

  7. I did look one of the pretty popular girls in school and she is real estate agent which seems quite probable as real estate agents for some reason look like models. I looked at a house the other day and the guy could have stepped out of GQ

great poem and I had to chuckle at Skye’s comment because my first thought was of those old Prom Queens, etc who were better than everyone else (in their eyes only). Wonder if I will see any of them at my 50th high school reunion this year!
