Clapping, clapping here in time
Faster rhythm, faster rhyme
Face bathed in full brilliant light
Music playing, sheer delight

Resplendent here the moon and stars
Conquer night and sun debar
Dancing in a circle formed
From this womb a world is born

See the gods come out to play
In this fever dance and sway
Music calls the muse to life
Switchblade, perfect, cutting knife

Clapping, clapping as we dance
Fervour lost in circumstance
Leaving all our faith to chance
Slipping, sliding into trance

  1. I can’t help but think of the ‘clapping….sliding into a trance’ is a slight against religions that espouse a fervour.

  2. I love the pace and rhythm of this piece Sis xxx
