Backstage Affair

Pierrot

Pierrot (Photo credit: Sant-Davalos)

Pierrot is crying
For Columbine
The lost carnival
In deep spring time
It’s greater than love
But lesser than care
This backstage affair

Columbine weeps also
For poor Pierrot
He travels too deeply
Where vagabonds go
The moment most needed
She found him not there
This backstage affair

The crowd has gathered
To follow the show
They demand of performers
All gifts to bestow
Pierrot bows too deeply
Kissing Columbine’s hair
This backstage affair

  1. ‘The Carnival is Over, we may never meet again’, how beautifully you have captured this story Helen. Love it. Lovely piece to wake up to.
