True Colours

Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait (Photo credit: nathangibbs)

Paint the canvas black and red
Fire and brimstone, I’ll approve
Through it all some splash of white
Deeper lacks here to remove

Draw true colours from the pit
See as though through demon eyes
Nowhere fit for blue or green
Softer tones are here despised

Ochre and dull orange may
Join with sharper, primary hues
This self-portrait you create
Be not subtle in your clues

Paint the canvas red and black
Use true colours, mark this well
No inhibitions you hold back
Show us all your path to hell

I like it… the dark aspects of it. The way to hell, the painting of dark hues- It was an appealing read for me.
