Support

How oft I find when I am wearied most
And weakened by the stresses of the day
Tis then I’m called upon to be the host
For those that grieve, or other fears allay
When I could cheerfully sound my final call
Or seek support or comfort from a friend
It’s then that I instead am asked to fall
And be the rock on which all else depend
But there is wisdom in the world’s demand
Through selfless realignment of my view
I find a deeper truth perhaps is planned
My fears retreat the more I’m asked to do
Here find a blessing runs my pain aground
True pleasure through a gift to others found

  1. Beautiful poem. I think you hit on a great point. People can relieve their own stress and fear by being there for others.

  2. Oh, Helen!! This is so very true. In serving others, we truly save ourselves. When I was suffering from anxiety and depression, nothing worked to relieve it except getting out there and helping another. I now live it and love it. It has saved my life, and hopefully blessed others. As always, amazing words! Big hugs, Sis!

Exquisite, both in its message and the way it was portrayed. Bravo. 🙂

A perfectly constructed sonnet in the Shakespearean style describing one of life’s greatest discoveries. Admirable, appreciated and very much enjoyed.

  7. So true and so beautifully done. Funny how even when at the end of your rope you can tell someone else how to tie a knot and hang on. 🙂
