This is so gentle I may fall and cry
See breath upon your lips so sweet and light
To keep such precious moments, gladly die
You seem so like an angel passing by
Yet in my yearning heart would you alight?
This is so gentle I may fall and cry
In games of love so often I may try
To say the artful word or yet delight
To keep such precious moments, gladly die
So could this lonely poet here deny
The blessing that awakened with your sight?

And when I thought all love had passed me by
In age I saw but solitude; this night
To keep such precious moments, gladly die
Within your warm embrace I hopeful lie
The cynic in me shaken and contrite
