This griffin dreams
Of being a dragon
Joining the major league
Of the winged creatures
Perched high above
The city he surveys
Saying ‘I could have been
A contender’
This griffin’s wings
Could span beyond
His beginnings and soar
With dragon brothers
This griffin dreams
Of starring roles
In fantasy epics
Yet to be written
But this griffin is beautiful
As a griffin, if only
He knew how his wings
Glitter in the morning sky
Like particles of light
Waiting to be born

When I was a kid (well younger) I wanted to be a Griffin after reading a fable or two.
Cool! I really like griffins but you don’t hear as much about them as dragons and so forth. I mean, I love dragons, as is obvious from my gravatar, but griffins are lovely too. š
Griffins have always been one of my favorite mythological creatures. I like they that were a combination of species taking the strengths from both. This was a wonderful poem š
Thank you so much!! š š
