Emotional Vampire

Little vampire

Little vampire (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This vampire feeds
On souls not blood
On energy
And care
Its teeth are hidden
In a smile
That denies what’s
Really there

This vampire’s needs
Will bleed your heart
Till dry
But any
This vampire
Will deny

  1. Oh I had a few of them, also penned a poem, do yourself a favour and kick it to the kerb x

  2. Dagenn says:

    Vampires are everywhere…
    I like it.

  3. Though it isn’t the same thing I remember when the Acupuncturist told me I was basically a succubus I absorb chi. In any case I can certainly relate to the piece having known my share of emotional vampires and knowing that with my Depression there have been too many times where I have taken more than I have given, where I have been too self-absorbed.

    • I think when you can’t help it because you are just trying to deal with your own energy levels and overwhelming needs then that’s to be sympathised and empathised with. Depression I think is far more complex and not something that anyone chooses.

The poem was more about those mega-selfish people who just drain everyone because nothing matters to them apart from themselves. So its about those that make a choice really, those that think the world really does revolve around them.

What your acunpuncturist told you was interesting…its always good to have that sort of knowledge about oneself I think. 🙂

      • Its just me identifying with the villain I am afraid, I did understand what type of person you were speaking of. I know that I do love a tremendous amount but I feel fall short continuously in expressing it, so its just my own guilt I think.

It is I wonder if it has anything to do with those ultra scary incubus dreams I used to suffer from, maybe I stole his powers haha

      • Could well be – the dream bit I mean…that’s fascinating. On the other hand, all of this contributes to your very, very fine writing, so there is a positive as well.

Oh, and while I understand you relating to the villain, I don’t think villains ever think they are villainous, so I think that means you aren’t!! 🙂

      • Thank you so much! The dreams I could tell you about!
