Winged Creatures (2)

Sweet owl bring to us
Minerva’s wisdom and word
from the depth of night

Butterly so bright
Colours of the souls rainbow
Promise of cocoon

Raven travel miles
cross Styx with the ferryman
leading souls to home

Eagle’s great wing span
and sharp eye encompass all!
Fly now to the core

Dragon dreaming deep
Scales of steel and fire rise
whiplashing the sky

Gargoyle poised above
cathedrals here in Rome’s heart
watch over this dawn

Six perfect allusions in a row! Each has strong metaphor creating its own backstory. I think this is very inventive and dramatically revealing. Very well done.

  2. i love the melding of the myths 🙂
