Breathing

Breathing underwater is hard
Keeping cool in a heatwave even so
Holding till the moment the right card
Making them want more as you go

Equilibrium is brief
Balance so eludes
Time’s a wretched thief
Reality intrudes

Breathing underwater even still
Keep a tempest in a paper cup
Just a momentary thrill
Hold on tight and never give it up

Insanity is good
Curious, full of mirth
Still you really should
Come down to earth

Breathing underwater as I try
To turn the world upon itself at last
You’ll remember me here by and by
But only when the moment’s passed
