New Birth – for Prompt: Arcana in the Tower

the_tower_by_tomscholes-d5bcuvm

Dark tower looming
This Aeon’s image
Time to fall

Destruction and decay
Dominate all horizons
Time to fall

All this violence
New birth pangs
Time to fall

Shed our skin
With blood and pain
Time to fall

Out of these ashes
Pheonix rising
What is born?

History’s devils
Now as angels
What is born?

We’re redundant
Just detritus
What is born?

Our time passing
New rules triumph
This bleak morn

Tower falling
Entropic process
Rest in peace

We’re forgotten
Dreams are broken
Rest in peace

What was honour?
What of struggle?
Rest in peace

Evolution
Is indifferent
Rest in peace

Old gods ponder
Revolution
Time to fall

Just the chessboard
Being cleared now
That is all

I always like the use of repetition Helen, excellent response to this image.

Breathtaking write, this is amazing. So many captivating lines, and I really adored the ending. It carries a dose of bitterness and uneasy peace, yes, but also a promise that we can take the reins and decide where to move.
