Eden

Beginnings are the hardest
Too many rules
And unknown faces
What are the rituals of these places?
What might only serpents know?
No maps for virgin territory
Only uncharted woods surrounding
Why must life be so confounding?
Time moves too fast and then too slow

This great Eden is a forest
Rivers surging
Over rocks un-ending
All our knowledge just pretending
Walk such fields where none dare go
And your god’s retreated homeward
Laid down traps and just departed
All belief is just half-hearted
What might only serpents know?
