All I Want For Christmas

All I want
A moment of belief
All I plead
Freedom from this grief
No gift given
Can ever compare
To such grace
Following there

All I want
Is simply what I need
All these bonds
Of doubting here I’m freed
No hope yet
I forever ask
Why believe?
Defeated by the task

Just one day
Taken through the night
All these wrongs
Somehow put to right
Angels cry
Voice their melody
In their hearts
Do they remember me?

All I ask
All that I can pray
Simple joy
Breaking with the day
All I want
A moment of belief
Heaven above
Hopeful, here beneath

Heaven above
Hopeful, here beneath

  1. ‘All I want’, ‘All I ask’, simple statements of basic human need, so well expressed Helen. Excellent poem.
