Derby Day

Day At The Races

Day At The Races (Photo credit: tj.blackwell)

Derby day fashion
Out on the green
Elegant, dashing
Live to be seen

Day at the races
Decked out in style
Finding our places
Linger awhile

Derby day horses
Winning their race
Running their courses
Taking their place

But it’s the dresses
Catching our eye
Fine hats and tresses
See how we try

  1. Often males and females have very different views on a day at the races. We males are out to win a dollar or two, women are out to win a look or two. Good one Helen.

Perhaps it is the fashion aspect of the piece, but the poem was, in a way, “cutesy” to me, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I am so glad I am a country girl that does not have to worry about all that finery and such. It seems rather exhausting. This was wonderful!!
