The first blush of summer there on the vine
Has opened her buds like hope for the day
We meet in true merriment, food and wine
And all of this bounty here on display
The days of dark winter fall to the past
The shadowy cowl withered and withdrawn
So here in such warmth our spirits are clasped
And from such bright sunlight lovers are born
The first blush of summer wakens the soul
She has her enticements, she has her role
The tree calls leaves as they yearn to be whole
The poet begins to sing and extol
