We Can’t Tell – For Prompt 26 What Can Change The Nature Of a Man?

WARNING:  This is a particularly dark poem about trauma based mind control.

1)
Split mind dislocated by trauma
Visceral pain and vast
Encompassing humiliation
Add to this a scintilla
Of doubt and distraction
Mix the recipe lightly
With dissociation

The embryo cracks early
The nucleus torn asunder
Where once rationality
Settled in sinews
It now is bereft
‘Now hush now, no fear dear
It’s only pure science’
Clinician eyes record and collect
Every utterance as it awakes
The legion within

2)
‘What can change the nature of a man?’
A professorial question, sternly addressed
To the darkened gallery
‘Any man, any man at all, or woman too?
Just the dissolution
Of all boundaries’

Each god creates in his own image
So here they too create
New personalities moulded from them
From the tears they can draw
From your futility
And they glory in creation
Egotistically

‘Through pain the mind is split
Into new portals’
Every utterance
Is born of hell
‘Therein the change achieved may be
Programmed perfectly’
We turn and hear at last
The mission bell

3)
They say the devil laughed
The night he fell
And split apart like you
In this deep well
We turn and hear at last
The mission bell
And we are not ourselves
But we can’t tell

    “Split mind dislocated by trauma
    Visceral pain and vast
Encompassing humiliation” right from the start you had be enthralled and relating.
