Hi
I’m delighted to say the last stages of publication are progressing well for my second novel, Curiosity. I’m excited so wanted to show you the cover, which I really love – lulu.com do a great job of realising your vision for a book I must say!!
As I’ve blogged about before, this book will be a significant departure from my first novel, The Seed. Whereas The Seed was a dark romance, very introspective – very much character and psychology driven and poetic and layered in its literary style, Curiosity is completely different. It is a black comedy/satire, is action/humor driven and dialogue/modern-day media snippet laden.
If my novels were children, The Seed would be the earnest, passionate, poetic one destined to be an artist, and Curiosity would be the light-hearted, charismatic, cynical and sometimes a bit nasty one destined to be a public relations/spin doctor or a gossip columnist perhaps…..
The description of Curiosity is:
Peter Graham believes the world ended some time ago and nobody noticed. He is a young man driven by one essential quality—curiosity. But when he couples that with his feeling that nothing matters anymore, he does something reckless that catapults him into the media eye as an unlikely modern hero.
Peter goes through the dance of media and political opportunity to further exploits, which he uncovers through his overwhelming curiosity. All the while, he writes in his private journal, determined to prove the world has ended; his outside adventures have done nothing to dissuade him from the truth of his view. Meanwhile, his family and friends struggle to keep up with his recklessness, understand him, and keep him safe from his own inherent, happy nihilism.
Curiosity is the darkly comedic tale of a somewhat benign sociopath who, while dancing through a celebrity-worshipping age, takes risks and burrows into a surreptitious modern world where every secret worth finding is deep and dark.
I’ll blog further as its availability progresses. Like my last novel it will start off as a print on demand (POD) paperback and ebook at lulu.com, then be on Amazon kindle, then eventually in global distribution covering Amazon POD, Nook and Apple Istore.
Stay tuned, and stay Curious!!
Cheers
Helen V
Hi Helen I look forward to reading The Seed, great knowing I can get it from ibooks. Will let you know what I think.
Thanks so much, I appreciate your interest and support!! 🙂 🙂
Congrats on finishing another novel! 🙂
Thanks so much!! 🙂 🙂
Very cool that you have a see on novel coming out. Great cover. Simple and eye-catching.
Thank you – that was what I was aiming for – glad it’s the way it comes across! 🙂
Love the cover!
Thank you – I’m very happy with it, I think it really captures the ‘feel’ of the book! 🙂
Interesting. I so envy you having your second book prepared so soon after your first! I am looking forward to having more time to read soon and The Seed is definitely on my list! Now it looks like Curiosity won’t be far behind. Congratulations. Very interesting cover also. Looking forward to reading both types of writing from you.
Thanks so much – I actually wrote both novels many years ago and just updated them recently for publishing – hence the speed of the process. 🙂
Like your cover. 🙂
Thank you, so do I!! Lulu.com did a great job! 🙂
All the best with this… congrats
Thank you so much!! 🙂 🙂
Congratulations
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
Congrats! Can’t wait to see it!
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
woo hoo!
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
Yes I am curious!
Excellent!!! Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
Congrats! The novel sounds extremely interesting love the premise!
Thank you!! I had fun writing it. It’s a lot lighter than The Seed though probably most of the characters in Curiosity are a bit irredeemable, given it’s a satire! 🙂
haha well I do love dark humor
The cover looks great! 🙂
Thank you – I’m really happy with it!! 🙂 🙂
Congratulations Helen, the cover is awesome. 🙂 I chose a picture for my memoir that is also through Lulu, they are really quite wonderful and so helpful aren’t they. Dreams really do come true. Onward and upward to your next! 🙂
Thanks so much, and yes I agree with you re lulu – they are very helpful and you get fantastic results working with them. 🙂 🙂
Yes and oh if only I could write and live off gratuities how much nicer my days would be. 🙂
Yes the writing is wonderful but the marketing/getting a living wage off it is a much harder thing I think. I’m certainly nowhere near being able to contemplate leaving my day job unfortunately!! 🙂 🙂
Wouldn’t it be marvellous if we could… we just have to write another Harry Potter 😉 x
Yes, I somehow don’t think I’ve got a best seller in me unfortunately…but still, one can dream!! 🙂 🙂
ditto sweet – ditto 🙂
