Her room so dark and small
I am quite lost
Within it all
I sit so quiet, meek
I fear she has
A crueller streak
She eyes me like a prize
As though I
Realise
Her cards are worn and old
From divinations
Told
I came to seek, to heal
To make the shadows
Real
But fortune has it’s way
I can’t control
This day
She turns the cards and smiles
And waits a
Little while
Then says the words I fear
The ones I
Cannot hear
And yet the die is cast
My future from
My past
A lost demonic friend
May yet return
Again
She smirks as though to say
You knew this anyway
You knew this anyway……

The cards were probably marked.
Could well have been…LOL… 🙂
Great piece Helen, I’ve always been fascinated with the mystic.
Thanks Dom, so have I!! 🙂 🙂
Love it.
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
Fortune tellers… I have seen them work. But I don’t believe a single word they say.
Well that is my opinion. A quite haunting piece which was also quite an enjoyable read.
I always think with fortune tellers – and I’m someone who reads tarot cards so I include myself in this – that it is best to see them as a sort of meditative aid, and then if something does come true either attribute it to having had the idea planted with you, or something that shows the mystery of life – that way it can be fun to have a reading but you aren’t enslaved or worried by it too much. It does my head in when readings seem to come true to some extent because I want to believe in free will, not destiny, but I allow that there may be some middle road in there somewhere and as long as I don’t get too caught up in readings they can be a fun diversion. 🙂
You say it right. I guess my previous comment was a lot more negative than what I would have found suitable. I apologize for that.
I have just certain personal experiences and it is just that my life has taken a completely different turn now.
I sincerely did not want to be so negative in my words. Thank you. 🙂
I didn’t think you were being negative. 🙂 no need to apologise. I think your approach is wise, I was just reflecting on your words. 🙂
Spooky! I admit that I have wanted to visit a mystic but I always feel I’ll go and they’ll tell me about someone more interesting lol
LOL – I doubt it!! I’m sure you’d be very interesting to read for indeed! And in any case, they usually do focus on who they are reading for!! 🙂 🙂
I hope your right because there is like a million things I want to know about haha
