I am the Jekyll to your Hyde
I am the muse that stirs your pen
I am the question deep inside
You are the now, I am the then
I am the kindness, you are the cruel
I am the judgement, you the crime
You pull the strings for me, poor fool
You are stasis, I am time
I am the Jekyll to your Hyde
I live in fear that youβll arise
I am forsaken, you are pride
Seeking to gaze now through my eyes

Loved this, awesome π
Thanks Helen!! π π
Poem gave me shivers. Makes me wonder if everyone has a Hyde lurking in them somewhere.
We probably do…the issue being how well contained we keep our dark side…thanks Charles!! π π
I won’t pretend that mine is hidden very well. I have to call on my Hyde for villain writing.
Well at least it’s useful then! An excellent way to channel the dark productively, and relatively safely I would think! π
Usually. I have things to keep him in line.
Loved it, Sis!!! xxxx Think we can all relate.
Thanks Skye!! π π
I like this. Conjures a bit of the ego-mind and all its shenanigans.
Thank you!! π π
I’ve found that the Hyde side of my nature sold out when I turned forty-six and went to live in the Cotswolds.
LOL! Can’t rely on anything these days, eh? Not even one’s dark side, lol…..
Nice job.
Thank you!! π π
true.. we are both light and dark, judge and convicted, flower and thorn, beauty and beast, love and hatred…
great job!
Thank you!!!! π π
In my case, it’s Jekyll and Granky… π

This is one of my favorites Sis xxx
Thanks Roxi!! π π
What a wonderful poem. I love the story of Jekyll and Hyde, even the movie versions. Your poem captures the story so well. I imagine there is a bit (or more) of Hyde in all of us. We writers definitely need Hyde, but he can be hard to control at times π
Very true, a difficult thing to acknowledge the dark side without letting it take over! thanks for your kind words!! π π
