He Said, She Said

He said, she said.

He said, she said. (Photo credit: Henry McLin)

He said
A pure moment
Must be captured
And kept still
Like a flower pressed
Against a page

She said
No moment’s pure
All is change
Cannot remain
And will be free
And all the rest’s
Captivity

He said
To find the muse
The artist’s way
Is to drink in
Everything and leave
A lesser husk
Behind

She said
To bear the spotlight
For agonising moments
Is to desecrate
The only chalice
Of life
