Mountains

Mountain

Mountain (Photo credit: @Doug88888)

The mountains of morning
With sunlight are strewn
The mountains of midnight
Are blessed by the moon
The mountains of evening
With a silver twilight
The mountains of midday
Impossibly bright

The mountains of memory
Are vast and so deep
The mountains of regret
Have such secrets to keep
The mountains of loving
Stretch far beyond time
The mountains of yearning
Are both sad and sublime

  1. I am truly blessed to have the prettiest view of the mountains from my home. Truly majestic in every season. I know, as I sit and gaze upon them, your words shall be brought to mind. I love this poem so very much. Thank you Helen.

  2. I so liked this. Seeing the mountains near me brings me peace on the craziest of days. Great writing.

The trouble with mountains, I’ve found (being surrounded by them where I live) is that it rains. A lot. Mountains make it rain. A lot. The cold air on the peaks condenses the water vapour. So it rains. A lot. And I mean, a lot. Which is good, because I like the rain, although even I can get a bit fed up with it sometimes.

  4. Makes me wanna go climb a mountain now! LOL… great write Sis xxx

I love this poem. I like it because it’s folksy and mystical and about nature and a message poem. Love it. I live on a mountain range too so the poem scores extra points with me 🙂

The mountains indeed say a lot many things. I really desire to get a view of them every now and then but it is impossible over here in a desert region.
I adore the imagery you created in this amazing poem.

  7. really like this piece a lot. The structured repetition-like delivery works amazing here.
