Drink From Me

Drink from me
For what we’ve been
Take from me
All you have seen

Let the inspiration flow from your veins
Let the shadowed darkness, linger, remain

Drink from me
And from your shame

Feast your heart
Upon my words
As though now
You might be heard

I remember once on seeing your face
Knew you’d scar with memories, never erased

Feast your heart
Your words replaced

Take this rhyme
It’s meant for you
Nothing else
I give that’s true

If in some strange time we once more could smile
With a restful heart could tarry a while

Take this rhyme
And be beguiled.

(This is an homage to a favourite melody/song from Les Mis…the Drink to Me song..so the melody and lyric form was floating in my head for weeks and this poem came out of it. 🙂  )

This was wonderful. I must confess though that I’m a horrible remiss person and I’ve never seen Les Mis…need to get my act together! lol
