First Law

First law
Is do no harm
Not do as you would do
The will always bows to the heart
And through this truth may blossom unadorned
All the rest is just clever lies
Tricks in words that lay traps
To sway you from
First law

  1. Oh, this is so very good. I love the “First Law”. I wish the world could adopt it. Bravo!!

  2. First Law is definitely an important one. Sad that so many people forget it or try to pull people away from it.

I thought the first law was entropy.

    • Ah, well I could have said first moral law, or first spiritual law, but then it would have broken the poem’s syllabic structure rules, LOL. 🙂 🙂

  4. Kira says:

I wish that was truly our “first law.” This was wonderful the way it flowed.

Reminds me of Aismov’s 3 Laws of Robotics which is also probably derived from Immanuel Kant’s theory. Cool stuff.

  6. Oh, if only this was not so carelessly and ceaselessly broken.

First do no harm . It used to be part of the Hippocratic oath that Doctors took, not any more. I guess they couldn’t prescribe the poison that the drug companies sell these days if they had to live up to that oath. I like ” do unto others as you’d have them do unto you . Either way it’s a great Idea, Do no harm ! Should be every ones first law. Good post !
